Kagami: white on black

Description

I've been playing with doing fanart in fine art mediums lately. I really don't think enough people try it. Most fanart, anime and otherwise, is done in Photoshop anymore. Nothing against Photoshop, but I like to try new things! Anyway, done with my rant...

This was my experiment with doing something inverted. I had a ton of black canson paper left over from a project and I thought something like this might be fun. I had actually drawn this picture awhille ago and thought it would be perfect for this. I really like how the contrast came out (though it doesn't look nearly as good in the scan). The stark white fading into the black seemed to fit the character well. I'm considering doing a companion piece to this of Akabane black on white.

I commend you on using traditional mediums in fanart. A nice change. I, myself, and scared of them in general...I wish I could use them. XD;; I tend to be too careless...

I really think the inverted look suits Kagami's character. I too like the fact, and the clothing. Though I don't often use it, I know charcoal can be a bit tricky...(or uh, maybe it's just me)...so well done. Perhaps try and work in a little more detail? Though I would find it difficult with charcoal. >_>

I think a companion pic of Akabane would be great. :3 I'd love to see it, if you do decide to do it.
